African Grey parrots which comes from the rainforest of central and western Africa are one of the most intelligent of bird species. They are well known for their ability to process information given to them (cognitive ability). In other words they don’t seem to simply repeat what is said to them without thinking about it.
Many are able to answer questions and follow instructions. This means that their intelligence level is high enough for them to understand phrases and respond appropriately. This video clip shows the amazing versatility of these birds. This little superstar can answer questions and make a variety of animal noises in response to questions.
Einstein Shows Off His Skill
African greys are known to have the largest vocabularies of all the talking bird species, including myna birds, crows and budgerigars. Famous birds include Alex with a vocabulary of 100, Prudle with 800 words, and the amazing N’Kisi who could say a massive 950 words.
Bibi Speaks 16 Languages
Bibi speaks sixteen languages. How many humans can claim the ability to do this?
The African Greys don’t have it all to themselves though. Here is a clip of Poncho, The Amazon parrot, watching himself on Youtube. Listen to the way he answers back. It’s hilarious.

Loved the parrots. It’s quite interesting the different voices they have which must be imitations of whoever has taught them.
