They looked on in awe as we unwrapped Christmas packages. They gnawed at tinsel and curling ribbon. They dived on shiny Christmas wrapping paper. They chewed at the corners of festive glittering gift boxes.
Then it was their turn. Mr Jim, our black and white wonder, had a Christmas bag to open – and Rosie, shiny black and vaguely Satanic (!!) had a festive bag too. Santa had come calling chez Rosie and Mr Jim.

This is their story in two haiku verses:
Santa came to town
With a blue mouse; a brown rat
For Jim and Rosie
They played all day long
With their cat-nip stuffed treasures
“Let’s do this next year?”
