If you have a cat in your home, you know how they are with attention. They always need someone or something to play with, and need to be constantly groomed. This can take a lot of time, so use these tips to keep your cat from taking over your life.

  1. Get Your Cat the Food that He or She Likes

Cats will think that there are unlimited varieties and amounts of their food. If you give them something they don’t like, they will keep meowing and rubbing against you to tell you to get another kind of food for them.

  2. Keep Your Cat Indoors

This is to keep him or her out of trouble, and more isolated from dangerous animals and diseases. A sick or hurt animal needs to be taken to a vet, which can cost a fortune in time and money. A healthy cat only needs to go to the vet occasionally for check-ups.

  3. Place Valuables Out of Reach

Put breakable items somewhere up high where your cat cannot reach them. Cats will love to play with shiny objects, which often leads to them breaking it. You also need to be aware of easy ways your cat can access areas that you don’t want it to. (Chairs, beds, open drawers, etc.)

  4. Allow Independence to Develop

When you have kittens, try to let them do things on their own. (make them more independent) If you do not, as they grow older, they will be more dependent on you for attention and other things, taking up a lot of your time.

  5. Share Facilities

Everybody hates cleaning up animal poop. Make sure that your cat’s litter box is in an isolated area (like a bathroom), and that the door is always open. If your bathroom door is closed, your cat can’t access the litter box, and they will think that area is off-limits for them.

Cats can get into anything and everything if they feel like it. Take authority of your furry friend, while having fun at the same time to keep your cat from taking over your life.
