  • The breed is first inspired the idea of a tiger-like tabby.
  • They searched for two types of cats. A tom cat in India with the head markings of a tiger.

  • Edward Blencowe Gould (1847–1916) found a breeding pair of the cats and called them Pho and Mia and brought them back to Britain as a gift for his sister. That’s how the bread started to spread.
  • In 1878, U.S. President Rutherford B. Hayes received “Siam”, a gift from the American Consul in Bangkok. They offered him a siamese cat as a present!
