Don’t get me wrong, dogs are fantastic. I’ve had at least one my whole life, but I believe I am more of a cat person. Having way too much time to think about it, I have come up with some reasons why they make the better pet
- You can have a cat in an apartment and not worry about having to take them out to use the restroom multiple times a day
- You don’t need to go find a park for them to run in to get rid of their excess energy
- Yes they use the litter box, and where it might get a little stinky at times I personally believe scooping a cat poo is better than scooping a doggie doo.
- If you believe that cats aren’t as loving as a dog then you have not had the pleasure of owning a cat that adores you. The one who will follow you to the bathroom just to make sure you don’t fall in
- Cats are self-grooming, they won’t ever come in reeking of freshly rolled in trash. If they do go rolling in stinky substances, it is cleaned off them so quickly one would hardly notice
- Cats are in general more independent. They have the unique ability to be left alone for a day or so and won’t get their feelings hurt. Heck I think I worry more about them being alone then they worry about actually being alone.
- Cats are good singular pets, they are happy to be the only one living with you.
- Cats (contrary to popular belief) actually get along with other cats just fine after a few days of getting used to one another. Yes you have to deal with fluffed up tails for a bit, but they will get used to one another
- Cats tend to take up less room on the bed than a dog does.
- If your cats are anything like mine, they could be considered nocturnal. Always playing at night, which leaves my bed free until the early morning hours. Dogs are quite content to share the bed with you all evening long.
- Cats make great lap warmers
- Cats have the unique tendency to understand your feelings. If you’re having a bad day then you’d better be prepared for a feline to come over to you and see what’s wrong
- Cats won’t get all the cat food in the dish at once, which makes it easier to work 12-hour days. You don’t have to worry about the cat going hungry because they seem to space out their munching.
- Cats aren’t quite as vocal as dogs, they won’t make noises at everything that passes by the window…unless it’s a bird and then you get to hear the funny chattering noises that cats make.
- Cats tend to eat less, so you spend less money on food
- Cats tend to keep their toys around for longer, not chewing them up
- Cats won’t eat the crotch out of your favorite pair of underpants
- Cats won’t chew up your shoes
- Cats can be trained to use the toilet (but it takes patience)
- Last but not least, Cats will love you just as much as a dog. They just show it in their own ways.
To everyone out there who is reading this and disagrees, well that’s fine, but please don’t feel the need to add your discontent in comments. No one likes to read nasty comments.
As I said before I’ve had dogs and I love them. But being the apartment dwelling girl that I am I’ve learned that it’s just better for me to have cats. Plus I love the furry felines that have graced me with their presence

I agree with almost everything here…except the food spacing. My cat doesn\’t know how to space her food. She eats it all, then pesters me because her bowl is empty!

Hahaha I love the underpants part! So true! The best feeling in the world is when your cat sits next to you on a bad day and purrs without rhyme or reason. I just moved into a new living situation and its been super stressful. But the one source of comfort I can count on is that warm fuzzy body accompanied by that friendly purr.

i’ve always loved cats and dogs, but cats are by far the easiest to live with. They’re so relaxed and a lot of fun to watch. We just had a baby, and our cat loves to sit right next to her and hang out. I adore my cat, and thanks for the info about food. I’ll be changing her diet today.
