A few facts about dogs.

One: Dogs’ only sweat glands are between their paw pads. 

Two: Around 1 million dogs in the USA have been names as the primary beneficiaries in their owner’s will.

Three: Dogs do not have a sense of ‘time’

Four: Dogs judge objects firstly by their movement, secondly by their brightness and lastly by their shape.

Five: Up until the late 19th century, Collies were known as Scottish Sheepdogs. 

Six: Ancient Chinese people carried Pekingese dogs in the sleeves of their robes. 

Seven: The world’s smartest dogs are thought to the Border Collie, Poodle and Golden Retriever.

Eight: The least smartest dog is thought to be the Afghan Hound.

Nine:  A breed of dog called the basenji is the only dog that cannot bark.

Ten: Basset Hounds cannot swim.

Eleven: Dog’s nose print are like human’s finger prints and can be used to accurately identify them.

Twelve: A dog’s sense of smell is 100,000 times stronger than a human’s.

Thirteen: Dachshunds were originally bred for fighting badgers.

Fourteen: The earliest dog fossils discovered date back to nearly 10,000B.C.

Fifteen: During Roman Times, mastiffs wore light armour and were sent after mounted knights.
