The story of how hybrid dogs became so popular is because of a new club for them called American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC).
The ACHC is the entity that names and registers hybrid dogs. The way they are named is because people are coming to them all time to register litters and when a person brings in a new mix not seen before the club has the first person with that breed name. Thereafter all dogs of that breed are registered under that first name from the first person with the breed.
The club, on average, of 500 litters a minth with each litter having 4.1 puppies.
The ACHC was created by Garry in 1992 in response to America’s Pet Registry that has been around since the 1980s and since it was created, it has been registering purebred dogs.
Garner started it because he and his wife Sheila have been breeding dogs for years and have bred over 26 breeds of dogs. They also started breeding the earliest cock-a-poos and felt they should have someplace to register because they couldn’t get in purebred registries.
