Stop barking in your Shih Tzu puppies when you want to.
Shih Tzu puppies like to bark. All dogs like to bark. Barking and other sounds are natural in puppies.
Video- Shih Tzu Barking in Their Sleep
Shih Tzu puppies are sometimes found in environments where barking is not desirable behavior. For example, if an apartment allows dogs, excessive barking by Shih Tzu puppies would not be looked on kindly by neighbors in adjoining apartments.

To stop a Shih Tzu puppy from barking, some persons use an anti bark collar. Most persons prefer not to use an anti bark collar to stop a Shih Tzu puppy from barking for ethical reasons. A bark collar delivers an electrical shock to the Shih Tzu puppy whenever it barks. That is inhumane and for this reason is not the choice of many Shih Tzu puppy owners.
To stop a Shih Tzu puppy from barking, it is better to train the puppy to stop barking on command. An adult Shih Tzu can also be trained to stop barking on command.
Image via Wikipedia
Stop barking! If this command is not reinforced by general behavior that shows that you are the top dog, the one in charge, your dog may disregard the command. Your Shih Tzu puppy or adult dog may choose to stop barking when it feels like and not when you want it to stop barking.
Your tone and body language must teach your Shih Tzu puppy that you are the alpha dog, the top dog. In this way a Shih Tzu puppy is just like a child. A child that is not taught what their boundaries are gets out of control and tries all kinds of nonsense.
Image via Wikipedia
A puppy or adult Shih Tzu that barks when you don’t want it to must be corrected. Calmly praise the Shih Tzu when it stops barking and stays quiet when required. Don’t overdo the praise with your tone or actions. You want to reinforce the idea that the right behavior is nothing out of the ordinary.

I enjoed reading your article. I can’t spell the puppy in this article, but I have a chihuahua who barks like crazy.
The picture was adoreable. I’d like one, but my mom won’t let me have a long hair dog. I want a French bulldog.

I did not know that was an anti bark collar. The inventors should put it on themselves and see if they liked the electric shock.lol. Yes, training must be the better and humane way for these cute pets.

You are so right my friend, anti bark collars are mere cruelty. You have explained here the best method to train a dog.
Thank you Sharifa.

First time I heard of anti bark collars. That is definitely cruel, shocking the dog like that. It’s best to train the dogs like you said.

Hi Jennifer. Long hair dogs are hard to maintain(grooming has to be done often).
