There is said to have been in an Atlanta, Georgia newspaper the following ad in the personals column:
“single black female seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I’m a very good girl who loves to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I’ll be at the front door when you get home from work wearing only what nature gave me. …. Call ###-#### and ask for Annie. I’ll be waiting.”
The calls came pouring in from men … men of all types desperate for female company … the company of a female that seemed ideal … a true country girl who does not ask for much and loves “guy things”.
Over 150 men found themselves speaking to the Atlanta Humane Society.
Often times the answer to what we seek is not the answer we are seeking. The answer is not what we think will make us happy.
I wonder who Annie went home to.
