Miniature Dachshunds

The wonderful world of mini Dachshunds….

Miniature Dachshunds come in many different colors….. Red, Black and tan, Chocolate, Wild boar, Gray and Fawn, and Dapple. They come in 3 different coats….. Smooth, Wirehair, and long.

 Lucky when he was puppy.

Dachshunds, what a wonderful breed of dogs. They are sweet, loyal, adorable, affectionate, stubborn,, and very persistent. I swear the dachshund motto is. “I want what I want when I want it and I want it right now.”  They sometimes are a little nippy. I know my dachshund will growl at people  if you are  sleeping or sick. but, he would never bite anyone it’s just to warn you. Dachshunds are hunter dogs of small prey. So, you might want to be careful if you have birds, hamsters, or any other small mammals. My dog lucky has caught 3 rabbits, 1 chipmunk, 2 birds, and even a baby duck. Gross, I know but what can you do it’s in their nature.

 Rudy and Lucky

I know from personal experiences with dachshunds, you have to have a lot of time on your hands. They are the most needy breed of dogs that I have ever known. Take my little spoiled Lucky for instance, he has to have constant attention. He always has to be next to someone. Like for instance When Lucky is sleeping in the bed with me he has to touch me at all times. Even if he is hot he will plop at the end of the bed, but he makes sure he has one paw on you at all times. lol

Dachshunds tend to have health problems. They tend to be overweight so, you should make sure they get lots of exercise. They also tend to have back problems so, limit their jumping and climbing stairs because of the elongated spine and short legs. Dachshunds are also prone to gum and teeth problems.
