It is no surprise that the number one dog is the Labrador Retriever. For the 19th consecutive year, these canines have been selected for their great natural pet owner loyalty that this pure bred is known for around the world. Along with a gentle nature, the Lab seems to fit into all households without much adversity reported.
Many of the other breeds need to be mentioned for their rating as well.
2. German Shepherd
3. Yorkshire Terrier
4. Golden Retriever
5. Beagle
6. Boxer
7. Bulldog
8. Dachshund
9. Poodle
10 Shih Tzu
Don’t be disappointed if your best friend’s breed is not mentioned since this is based on AKC specs and no one came to your home to see your pet in action to be judged.

Good information. I do love my lab, she is a sweetheart. She’s a character as well, but she is a great dog.

I’ve been seeing more and more Miniature Schnauzers nowadays. They’re probably going to be one of the popular ones in a few years. Thanks for sharing!

Nice post. You’re right labs are popular. I have a mixed black lab and a mixed pit-bull. The pits are the breed I full the most sorry for as they are so badly used. Katie my yellow dog is mixed pit and yellow lab. She is the sweetest dog we have ever had and she loves a good neck and belly rub.

My Cocker and the no-name dog didn’t make the list but I don’t think they mind. Thanks for a wonderful series of dog profiles.
