38-year-old Lynn Middlebrooks Geter is in jail after forcing her 12 year old son to bludgeon his pat hamster with a hammer as punishment for bad grades at school. This, in my opinion is child abuse! What kind of woman would force a child to kill their pet as a disciplinary measure?
The 12-year-old boy told his teacher about the killing. The teacher then called the Division of Family and Child Services, who contacted police. The incident occurred at the Geter’s Warm Springs, Georgia home.
Lynn Middlebrooks Geter, 38, is charged with one count each of animal cruelty, child cruelty and battery. The sheriff’s office said she remained in custody in the Meriwether County jail early Friday.

The charges are accurate. Unfortunately, her punishment won’t undo the psycological trauma inflicted upon the lad.

Parenthood today is nothing like it should be. Unfortunately, this generation of parents is ill-equipped mentally to properly teach and guide children. Yes, many work hard at being good parents, but in general, many parents have no idea what they are doing because they were not influenced properly as they grew up with parents of the 60’s and 70’s when the “me” socirty was born.

That’s absolutely SICKENING ! I am a mom of 3 children ( 11, 5 , and 9 mos ) My oldest was coming home last year with grades below a 50 ( most of them were literally 10’s and 20’s ). I didn’t hit her. I didn’t make her hurt anyone or anything else. I took away computer privelledges, tv privelledges, mp3’s, and anything else that was ” fun ” until her grades improved. Effective parenting should never involve making your child kill , maime, or generally inflick pain upon anything living and breathing. Even the act of making a child flush a goldfish would fall into this catagory ! Wake up people!!!! Your children, be they small… have a very impressionable mind. My prayers go to this little boy that in time he will over come the trauma this poor excuse of a mother ( and she doesn’t deserve that title ) has inflicted upon her boy.

if you look at this woman’s face you can see that she has some deep psycological issue’s.
it goes much deeper then the crime she commited.
in fact even if she herself read all these posts directed towords her,she would be the type to undoubtedly take her anger out on her son.
she feels power in her sad exsitsnce when she is punishing this poor child..i have no doubt that this was not the first time that this little boy had been tormented by this evil woman.
i certainly hope that the departement of youth protection (usa) will do its duty and remove this child from her grasp before he in turn winds up dead by this woman’s hands

Living on a farm as a child and being taught how to slaughter the livestock, I ate many of my childhood friends. Taught me alot about how life REALLY is. You city people would NEVER eat meat again if you had grown up with it and had fond memories of the meat as a living animal. Caveman children killed small animals all the time, it was what they could catch to eat. Humans are animals, we evolved killing to survive.

It would have been best to eat the pet, thus teaching the child that killing for survival is the only aceptable form of killing. And yes as an adult I do live on a farm and continue to raise animals for food, and I give them all names too. This is how it was hundreds of years ago before slaughterhouses removed most people from the source of their food. And that is why all you people are SO offended over the death of a small animal, because you have forgotten that every hamburger you eat was a living mammal with a personality and feeliengs of it’s own – just like you.

The hamster was a PET. It wasn’t being raised for Thanksgiving dinner. That was a cruel and horrible thing for her to make her son do. She is a psycho and needs some serious therapy.
She started the ball rolling. She better hope her son doesn’t decide to take a hammer to her someday.
