Hypostomus plecostomus (known colloquially as a sucker fish) is the scientific name for a type of freshwater tropical Central and South American fish belonging to the family Loricariidae.

One of the most beautiful and often one of the hardest of the exotic Plecostomus species to find in a pet shop, it is easy to see where the Zebra Pleco gets its common name.

They gets thier name from its black and white stripes, resembling the colouration of a zebra. It is a species of catfish endemic to the Big Bend area of the Xingu River, a tributary of the Amazon River, and was first described in the early 1990s.

    It would be interesting to hear for the price of this exotic rare fish. I don’t know if I ever saw it in any shop.
