Pet Food

If you love your pet, look for quality food to feed them.

Our Pets: Their Diet is Important Too!

If eating fresh, unprocessed foods are good for us humans, why not for our pets? Until I found Freshpet, I use to do all the cooking for my precious little pet. Ketchup is his name and a dachshund is what he is; I use to cook and prepare his meals and sometimes I still do.

However Freshpet is a new and improved dog food that is just perfect for any dog. It contains just the right nutrients my dog requires and the only thing about it having preservative is that there are NONE! This dog food requires refrigeration because it does not contain preservative; it has an expiration date on it and needs to be used within a few days of opening.

Everything about Freshpet is awesome, it contains meat, liver, eggs, vegetable and vitamins; it is high quality, natural ingredients for your pet and mine.

All pet food should begin with meat, not by products, and like you and I our pets need their vegetable and vitamins. This helps to keep not only their coat healthy looking and shinny but keep their digestive system regular, avoiding diarrhea and constipation.

So the next time you go to pick out your pets dog food, or your cats; cat food… make sure that the first ingredient is meat!!  Then go to the refrigerator in the pet section and read the labels on Freshpet, I am sure at that point you will be amazed at what your pet is missing out on!

A vet once told me that it is best to rotate pet food. I know people who feed their pet one food their entire life. I cannot imagine eating toast (or tacos, hamburgers, lasagna, stir fry, etc) every meal, every day for life. This is even if my life were dog years, and I only lived to 10 or so.

The vet said to rotate brands of food because no food has absolutely everything in it that an animal needs for optimal nutrition. That makes sense to me. So I rotate my cats’ foods among most of the high-end and higher level commercial food, and mix it in with rotated canned food. I mix 50-50 wet with dry, to help with hydration in my older cats, and to coat the dry food with something a little more interesting sometimes. They are healthy, and for sure, overweight. I would probably do well to cut most of their rations. I have one cat that is 19, and her daughter is 18. Too much rotating, I guess. : ) Thanks for a pet food article. It is so important.
