I recently bought a little figurine of a young angel holding a cat and another cat at her feet. It reminds me of my 30-year-old daughter, Jodi, who loved her cats all throughout her life. Jodi is now in heaven, and I wondered if her beloved cats are with her?
We’ve always had kitties around the house from the time my children were little. Jodi was especially fond of one goofy, cross-eyed Siamese mix named Bandit. The cat was quite a character. She couldn’t see so well, so when she would aim to jump up onto the deck railing, (as all of the other cats did quite easily,) she would often miss and have to give it another go.
Bandit would sit on Jodi’s lap for hours; she was one of the most loving cats we ever have ever had in our home! She also, for some odd reason, liked to sit in the sink when it dripped onto her; I thought most cats hate water, but not Bandit.
In the pouring rain, we would see Bandit sitting on top of the rain getting soaking wet. Jodi would bring her inside and towel-dry the cat who would purr and purr with the extra attention; then run back outside and get soaked again.
Bandit was not the brightest cat I’ve ever owned, but she had a heart of gold. When Jodi wasn’t feeling well, she would sit on Jodi’s lap for hours being petted and held; something she really didn’t care for during long periods of time. But she seemed to sense when we weren’t feeling well.
Just a few days ago, I wondered about kitties in heaven. Then, a friend stopped by to chat and he told me about a very vivid dream that he had. He related the dream as being “heaven,” with all kinds of children and pets running about. He knew that Jodi was in this amazing “hospital” of sorts, resting and getting well. He asked to see her and finally one of the nurses told him that she would take him to see her. He then awoke.
He said that he had the most peaceful feeling after the dream, even though he hadn’t seen my daughter. What he couldn’t get over were the children and animals running about the place, playing and laughing.
I thought about my friend’s dream and wondered if this was the universe’s way of answering my question; yes, Madison, there are kitties in heaven!
