I think you should mention the states that gerbils are illegal in. I would love to get gerbils for my girls but they are illegal here in California. I was really bummed when I found that out! They look like the ideal, fun, small pet.

Very nice basic article. If you are thinking about more grebil articles might I suggest an article on their personality or getting them to bond with you?

Very helpful! I totally agree that gerbils are more interesting to watch than the TV. The other thing, you mentioned excersize balls... I don't like them because my gerbils had a very hard time navigating them. They were also unable to smell or touch anything and I think they got very frusterated. I had a ball for about a week with my gerbils and immediately got rid of it. (Friend had a hamster). However, I'd suggest putting them in a CLEANED bathtub. This gives them the chance to walk around in a safe place and pet owners can actually sit with them. There's also nothing to chew, unless you put anything there. I used to put them on the couch but the cover is now covered in holes so we had to replace it... Probably a bad idea if you like your couch (fortunately, this one was an old one!)
