Not all skunks have rabies.  It is true they are common carriers but they must have been bitten by an animal with rabies for them to have rabies.

Skunks are very playful and have excellent personalities.  They love to play games and they can be very funny.  They love to play with their owners and tag is one of their favorite games.  Skunks a can be very stubborn at times.

Skunks can make great pets but you must remember they are not like owning a dog or cat.  If a skunk gets upset they can be very destructive.

You must be sure you provide your skunk with a proper diet.  They will need fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy products, high quality protein and whole wheat.

You must get your pet skunk neutered or spayed when it is very young or it will become so aggressive it will not be a good pet.  You must not ever put your skunk in a cage or he will become very aggressive and will bite.

When you go to get your new skunk be sure his eyes are bright and clear.  His coat should be glossy with no yellow staining on the white fur.

If you decide to get a skunk check the law in your area as to whether they are legal for you to have as pets.  Next find a reputable breeder.  It is a good idea to read some articles on skunks before you get one.

I do not know if I would want a skunk. I would have to think about it first. I do not want another pet. I lost my chihuahua to an eagle and my mom is trying to convince me to get another dog, but I am saying a firm NO!
