Why is Your Cat Coughing?

Coughing for a human is a matter of course, we cough to clear our throats, cough when we have a cold, and cough for attention. Cat does not cough voluntarily. It prefers to yowl or meow for attention. A cat will cough, like a human, to clear its throat of an irritant or have an occasional bout of coughing. More frequently a cat will sneeze rather than cough. A cat’s body was designed to expel things that get caught in the respiratory tract by sneezing and not coughing.
