Animals abandon their young for many reasons. With domestic animals, specifically pets, people often panic and tell their kids not to touch the babies or the mother will abandon them. This is not entirely true, as there are many reasons why a mother might reject her young. A list of those reasons, and what to do.
People new to breeding pets are often confused when their pet delivers its young and either ignores them or kills them. Sometimes the problem is owner error, and other times the pet just does not want to be a parent.
My wife and I do not own any dogs, but have found that some animals make just as good pets, or even better. If for some reason you cannot have a dog, or just do not want one, these are great alternatives, however they are illegal as urban pets in most areas.
Many people might have the idea of being noble and rescuing a farm animal and keeping it as a pet. But with few exceptions, it’s likely not a practical venture.
